Relay Marathon

The Relay Marathon, in which teams of four to six runners cover the full marathon distance - 42.195km - as a relay.

It follows the same spectacular route as the Marathon, combining Geneva’s beautiful lake-side scenery with an Alpine backdrop and the city’s main sites.

The relay marathon is open to all participants aged 14 and over. As a family, in a group of friends, or with work-mates, four to six runners will tackle individual distances ranging from 4.1km to 10.1km - to make up the total 42.195 marathon distance together. According to the pre-defined sections:

Section 1 : 5,7km

Section 2 : 8,8km (Meet at 8.45 am at Place Favre for the departure of the shuttle bus)

Section 3 : 10,2km (Meet at 9.15 am at Place Favre for the departure of the shuttle bus)

Section 4 : 7km (Meet at 9.45 am at Place Favre for the departure of the shuttle bus)

Section 5 : 6km (Go to Girod Piscine - Route de Thonon 112, 30min before the arrival of runner 4)

Section 6 : 4,5km (Go to Quai Gustave Ador 12, 30min before the runner arrives 5)

To ease the logistics, a person who runs two relays will have to run two consecutive relays (for teams of four or five runners).

During registration it is not necessary to indicate the order in which runners will complete the relay. You are free to organize yourself as you want.

A bib-belt will be given with the bib considered as the relay baton. The organisation will retrieve this bib-belt on the finish line.

The organization reserves the right to modify the distances indicated.

TRANSPORTS

To facilitate your transportation and to make your experience pleasant, shuttles will be organised to relay points 2, 3 and 4 (see map at bottom of page) to drop off and pick up the relayers. Enjoy a fun and friendly marathon - as a team!

The start in Chêne-Bourg is accessible by numerous TPG lines (bus & tramway, more info on https://www.tpg.ch/fr/lignes) as well as via the Léman Express (more info here).
